This position is responsible for assisting in the achievement of all RIT Student Affairs goals and objectives while leading the Athletic Division with a focus on student satisfaction driven from positive customer service in the following areas: general Sports Center operations, general customer service, general student support and extracurricular programming with a focus on athletics. This position should also create a positive reputation for RIT Dubai through positive communication and interaction with students, staff, faculty and the local community.

Student Affairs Operations: Sports Complex

General:

• Serve on the non-academic conduct committees and as a Student Affairs representative (as needed) on academic integrity hearings
• Chaperone study abroad tours or any student activities if required (mostly on weekends)
• Assist with student government, student clubs and organization support
• Assist in the planning of large university events such as Fall and Spring new student orientations (Undergraduate, Graduate and Study Abroad), SpiRIT Week, Tigers Fest, TEDxRIT Dubai, Sports Days, Student Affairs Awards Night, Senior Salam Week, Commencement etc. in addition to any additional university and external event support as needed.
• Assist students in the event of an emergency – on and off campus as needed
• Implement and adhere to COVID-19 regulations as set forth by the UAE Government and educational governing bodies.
• Perform other duties as assigned / needed

Athletics:

• Lead the Athletic Division of the Office of Student Affairs
• Responsible for all athletic divisional reporting and athletic strategic initiatives
• Responsible for the Athletic Division budget, athletic inventories and athletic vendor relations
• Represent the Student Affairs Office and Athletic Division in a professional and courteous manner
• Directly manage and lead full-time athletic staff, part-time coaches and fitness trainers, outsourced staff, student workers and volunteers
• Manage the upkeep of relevant records and documentation in association with this role
• General office duties as assigned including managing an organized, clean and safe Sports Center
• Responsible for basic facilities traffic management (manage university community access)
• Direct the RIT community with the safe use of training equipment
• Enforce all rules and regulations of the Sports Complex
• Oversee and assist with coordinating with campus security as required
• Direct and assist in managing the fitness center, ladies only gym, multi-purpose hall, equipment and locker opening procedures, and a daily facility opening/closing report
• Direct the Sport Center bookings for the RIT community
• Lead the Athletic Academic year calendar programming including summer activities as required
• Plan, organize, promote, execute and chaperone events both on and off campus for undergrad and graduate students (evenings and weekends)
• Oversee the supervision and management of student workers, including planning/preparation of weekly roster and work schedules and ensure adequate manning to efficiently handle the number of people entering the sports complex. This position would ensure that there is adequate coverage.
• Keep an up to date awareness of current health and fitness trends/research
• Engage with students and the overall RIT community with fitness and motivational support

CERTIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

• Medical First Aid Responder (Required) Annual refresher required
• Personal Trainer / Fitness Instructor Certification with 2 years of experience (Preferred)
• Bachelor degree in Sports, management or related fields or equivalent experience

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & AVAILABILITY:

• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written (Required)
• Excellent Arabic communication skills, both verbal and written (Preferred)
• Student Affairs experience – Event and student management experience (Preferred)
• Deep understanding of fitness disciplines, programming & principles. (Required)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Photoshop, etc.)
• Strong organizational, customer service and people skills
• Ability to lead a team AND be part of a team
• Experience working with confidential information and the ability to be discrete and protect student information
• Strongly self-motivated, energetic with innate leadership abilities
• Experience working with students, managing students and working in a fast pace and high stress office environment
• Should be able to articulate a strong commitment to diversity, and have the ability to work effectively with individuals from different backgrounds
• Disciplined, hardworking and trustworthy
• Ability to maintain professional relationships with students
• Possess strong positive, motivational, & interpersonal skills
• Evenings and weekend availability required for university programming
